Projecting the impact of human activities and climate change on water resources in the transboundary Sre Pok River Basin

This study aims to project the compound impacts of climate change and human activities, including agriculture expansion hydropower generation, on future water availability in Sre Pok River Basin. The five regional models (RCMs): ACESS, REMO2009, MPI, NorESM, CNRM were selected for projection under two scenarios, i.e., RCP 4.5 8.5. Our results reveal that annual rainfall is expected decrease by 200 mm, whereas average temperature increase 0.69 4.16 °C scenarios. Basin was projected using soil assessment tool (SWAT). Next, CROPWAT model used examine irrigation requirement HEC-ResSim simulate generation Buon Tuar Sarh reservoir. simulation indicates availability, increasing demand decreases periods. irrigated areas are increased from 700 1500 ha as per provincial development plan. also examines present drought conditions via streamflow index (SDI). expect contribute toward supporting planning management resources efficiently cope with studied basin beyond.
